Built or ready to be connected to NBN?
How we can help design & advise on the right solution for NBN , just call electronica for the best type for your lifestyle :
– Whom should I use for my internet service provider (ISP)
– What connection speed / plan do I need to use the internet smoothly without it slowing down.
– Is the existing cables connected to the street 100% working & tested to suit NBN speeds & bandwidth requirments
– Do I have fully compatible NBN components for my required needs & users..?
– Do I have enough Wi-Fi coverage in the property to supply wireless internet to the areas we use & want reception too.
– Are my “free” modems or routers by my ISP powerful enough or can handle all of the connected devices without slowing or dropping off the NBN
– Are my critical systems still working after NBN has been connected e.g.. Alarm & lift

For any custom solution to suit your lifestyle that’s both well planned and easy to use, the first step is clicking here…
1 – Choosing the right Wi-Fi modem & router
ADSL2 to NBN
NBN connections can utilise various Wi-Fi routers & modems when connecting to a new plan. If you’re ready to make the switch, keep in mind that older routers & modems that use to connect to your current ADSL / ADSL2 technologies will not be compatible. Talk to us to ensure the modem & Wi-Fi router supplied is the best unit & suited to your needs. You may not need to spend any more money on a modem or router with advice by Electronica to get the best for your requirements.
Wi-Fi & wireless connection devices
Not all modems & Wi-Fi routers are alike. 5 Ghz wireless device standards are needed in order to reach the fast speeds available on NBN’s various download connection speeds. Wi-Fi modems made before 2009 will struggle to connect at optimum speeds we strive for you to maintain.
2 – Update your cabling to improve your internet.
If speed is limited or seems very slow. It is often related to poor cables & connections. We can check & diagnose all your phone or network cables & sockets & upgrade your wiring as an approved registered ACMA cabler. Old buildings need to be check often for evidence of older phone installations & deteriorated cables. This is a huge problem for older suburbs connected to the internet getting slow speeds & constant drop outs of your connection.
The quality & age of the cabling in your property will contribute to the speeds you will experience on the internet.
If your speeds are limited, it is a good idea to have the cabling inside your property checked by Electronica. For example, if you are connect in an older building and there is many different unused phone or TV sockets, or older phone installations & faded old looking wall plates, it would of great benefit, having your property network cables assessed by electronica’s technicians. – We can help to isolate any faults and clean up your network to work at it best, everytime.
3 – The different Wi-Fi signals
The Wi-Fi signal inside some devices may not provide sufficient reception if you are too far away from the Wi-Fi router or modem in the property –The types of Wi-Fi frequencies and how they affect your reception. We supply only the latest dual band Wi-Fi technology available to get the best connection, every time.
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connections
The most common Wi-Fi frequency of 2.4 GHz offers the greatest range and is capable of reaching through a variety of structures. However, this range coupled with the ability to go through walls also limits its speed potential.
Many Wi-Fi routers and Wi-Fi enabled devices in your home will operate on the 2.4 GHz spectrum because of the ‘all purpose’ durability of the 2.4 GHz range. If this is the situation in your network, its time to call Electronica & upgrade to todays faster technologies.
5 GHz Wi-Fi connections
The newer 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency is vastly becoming the best frequency to connect to.
While 5 GHz generally provides higher data rates compared with 2.4 GHz, its one potential weakness is that 5 GHz signals do not generally travel as far as 2.4 GHz signals. For optimum performance, you need to ensure that your devices are located closer to your Wi-Fi router, without too many interfering objects between the device and the unit. Adding 1 or 2 extra Wi-Fi routers in the property or on each level will greatly improve the range of the Wi-Fi, without compromising on the internet speeds.
If you’re unsure which frequency will work best for you, speak to us about the right component or devices to suit your specific needs.
Wi-Fi channel interference is becoming an cause for reduced speeds & connections to the network who maybe using the same channel Wi-Fi, as your network. We can diagnose, repair & customise any Wi-Fi networks to find a solution & optimise your network connections all over the property.
4 – Interfere with your Wi-Fi signals speeds
The location of your components is very important to your internet experience. Certain objects in your home like microwave ovens, televisions & wireless phones will interfere with the Wi-Fi signal strength. Thick walls or other metallic surfaces like walls , steel & even fridge doors will also impact the quality of your signal. We will locate the best position for your Wi-Fi router or modem, considering the layout of your property and where the internet socket are located. Where possible, you should avoid thick walls and look to have line-of-sight with your Wi-Fi router. Otherwise a good solution is for the phone or data cabling & socket to be simply relocated to a better position.
If you are un-satisfied with the current installation of the NBN components or another company has intstalled the socket in the wrong area you had wished. We will be happy to relocate & run new cables to a new location better suit the aesthetics of the room.
5 – Multiple devices connected at the same time
The amount of devices connected to your router at the same time can have an impact on the maximum speeds which you connect to the internet. Most of the basic Wi-Fi routers that are supplied from your internet service provider (ISP) will experience connectivity issues with more than 8 connected devices at once. We can supply & custom install your NBN & network components to suits your specific needs so the network will run at optimum levels no matter how many devices are connected at once.
Downloads speeds however, are controlled by the type of connection you have purchased from your ISP into the home & shared to each device accordingly.
6 – Older or existing modems, routers & personal devices
Some older devices in your home may struggle with speed and capacity when you switch to NBN.
We can ensure your equipment is up-to-date which will help improve your usage by updating your devices to the latest software, if all the components are compatible.
Hardware in current devices with Wi-Fi connection technology
Just like your Wi-Fi router or modem, the Wi-Fi receiver in your device (such as computers, laptops, tablets and smart phones) which you regularly upgrade for personal use for the latest technologies, also needs to be compatible with the 802.11n or 802.11ac Wi-Fi standards in order to reach the fast speeds available over a plan based on NBN range of speeds available to you. Wi-Fi enabled devices made before 2009 may struggle to reach higher speeds.
7 – Streaming HD video & audio over NBN
Preparing yourself for the future of high definition TV requires a fast internet and a consistent signal strength.. Internet enabled High Definition (HD) TVs & components such as “ Apple TV & media players” require a fast speed and consistent signal strength when viewing HD or 4K content.
As we head into the future and 4K content becomes more common, an Ethernet cable connection or a close 5 Ghz Wi-Fi signal (with line-of-sight to the component) is highly recommended for optimum performance.
8 – Critical device compatibility to NBN
The rollout of the NBN involves new technologies which some existing devices may not be compatible with. Devices reliant on older technologies such as ADSL & phone lines may not be compatible. We can diagnose any existing components & install the necessary components required to connect to the internet or phone lines & reactivate the system in the property. Most situations can be rectified with minimal costs & components without the need to replace the whole system.
Devices to consider:
Alarms, autodiallers or emergency call buttons, Security monitoring systems, Faxes & Existing landline phone services.
It’s important to talk to us & find out if your components will work on the NBN network, or what alternatives may be available. It’s also important to register safety critical devices with NBN by calling 1800 227 300 or visiting nbn.com.au/compatibility.
